How much is printing going to cost you? How many do they get?

I can absolutely see that there are artsy photographers who have an eye for the unusual and who look at things from another perspective, they dont use a lot of kit in my experience, just camera and lens. They take photos of things i’ve walked pasa million times and never considered. Those aren’t necessarily the same people you want to photograph your wedding.

To do a couples portrait shoot or photograph an event, being artsy might not help you that much because you need flashes, triggers, umbrellas, lighting is very important, camera needs to shoot redundant etc. There is an art in being able to document and photograph things that are happening in front of you well, and capture the emotion of your subjects while doing so.

I’ve accepted that I’m much more the second one , technical excellence with a flavouring of my style (poses, environment, background etc) is the goal for me but i definitely want to expand my abilities with regard to the first.

That doesnt mean a perfectly exposed, edited and exported photo of your keyboard is any more interesting though!

Ah i thought that he meant he got the money as a deposit in which case its a win.

Sucks that you lost your first shoot, my brother did one for free before so that he could use it in his portfolio so people have got less for a first wedding!

Really weird imo. Knowing what lens someone used doesn’t at all mean you can take photos like them.

Its a lens, ill tell you absolutely everything about all my gear, just because you buy it doesn’t mean you’ll take photos like me.

I probably wouldn’t do a super important event with just a single card. I know some people do but imagine telling your client that. Yeah i COULD have got a pro grade camera with 2 slots, but i didn’t want to and now your wedding photos are gone.

I probably wouldn’t tackle a wedding without a dual slot primary body and a backup full frame body (rp or something

Ive had 1 card fail so far but it was only for test shots of my bedroom so nothing lost. Buy quality brands!

First time someone paid me for a shoot, and asked me back ever since! Its only a side gig but im glad that my years of learning can finally pay off.
