Send them a Bill… Normally works on how much you would charge for the use of the shot plus how long they have been using it illegally… I have done this with a couple of large companies… 5 figures each for both.

Just keep at it mate you will get better, you may fall out of love with photography by putting so much pressure on yourself. If you know your settings then taking a photo is mostly about you, find something you are passionate in and take shots of that. I’m a wedding photographer by trade but landscape is what reels me back into the whole love of photography again.
Find a subject your passionate about
The rest will fall into place.
If the photographer cancelled, then you are entitled to your deposit back. Other way around not so much… Although check your contract.
