If you could only use one lens for the rest of time what would it be?

    M43 shooter - the Olympus 20mm f1.4.

Weather sealed, great focal length, balances well on my medium sized bodies, and got so much crap because of purple fringing on early reviews that I was able to buy it cheaper new than used. Folks are starting to catch on and it’s becoming more popular. Such a nice and compact travel lens.

I tried it and flipped it. I love the 20mm 1.7 and the PL 25mm 1.4.

I found no compelling reason to use the 20mm 1.4 from Olympus when the Panasonic is smaller, and, if I want 1.4, I can use the 25 to even greater effect and it’s the same size.

I do think the rest of Olympus’s pro line is unbeatable though.

I have the 12-40 2.8 parked on my E-M1.3, but I have the 20mm 1.7 as my every day lens for my smaller micro four thirds cameras, and have for about 15 years now.

Had an olympus EM1 M11 for a long time. Beside the supreme 12-45f4 pro, the PL 25 1.4 ii was my standard-lens and shot 75% of my photos. Fantastic lens!

I never tried the 20mm 1.7 but I’ve seen image samples and think it’s fantastic for what it is. The biggest thing for me was the weather sealing, I wanted that and adored the Oly 25 1.8, but thought the Oly 25 1.2 was too big for EDC and backpack travel. The 20mm 1.4 was a nice compromise and it sits nicely on my EM5.3. It’s been by far my favorite lens, and since m43 lenses are cheap, I’ve owned and sold a good amount.

I have the 12-40 2.8, but I’ve been seriously considering selling it for the 8-25 F4 for some time now.

I’ve been looking at the PL 25 1.4 II lately. My only worry is how the PL weather sealing holds up on the Oly bodies.

It’s basically just a rubber ring for both of em on the mount. It’s the same.

Don’t get both the 25 and the 20. You have the 20, keep it. I have no need for weather sealing beyond the 12-40, which is what I backpack with, so I use the first version which is ultra cheap.
