I had a Flickr account years ago. Literally just logged in for the first time in a long time after reading this post. Everything I ever uploaded has gone. Did it stop for a while and restart?

flabmeister@alien.topBtoPhotography•Do you charge for hours not worked when on a business trip?English
1·2 years agoI just took a trip to Thailand. Client paid for flights, hotel, transfers etc.
I charged my regular day rate plus some for work days (6).
I also charged for travel days (4). For this I charged basically about 2/3 of my regular day rate as it was otherwise lost time.
I charged for edit days even though I never normally do so. It’s usually factored into my day rate. Again charged 2/3 of normal day rate.
I also charged a fee for miscellaneous costs such as airport parking, travel insurance etc.

1·2 years agoFamily? No not really
I don’t now to be fair. I used to shoot live music but thinking about it, I think I actually did used to shoot auto ISO but with a relatively low limit
I would never shoot auto ISO
Photography is about a lot of things, light and composition being keys ingredients but subject matter to me is probably just as important. I think you need a plan, a purpose, an objective……something actually interesting rather than just “snaps”.
I can’t believe you can’t how many photos you’ve taken AND are aware of how many photos others have taken. Weird way to look at things.
Many are not including all with barrels that extend. And weather sealed never means weather proof so I’d never risk it, not when my livelihood depends on having them at my disposal at all times

1·2 years agoAwesome my mate is Interpol’s manager and another friend used to manage Bloc Party.
Some really good advice in the comments covering pretty much everything you need to know so I really have nothing more to offer but very best of luck and enjoy.
I would recommend buying a new Sandisk SD card, cheapest you can find. Think I’m right in saying they all come with 1 year free recovery software. Then use that software. May cost you the price of a new SD card but you may get your images back. Good luck

1·2 years agoDon’t feel bad, your friend’s a dick
Amazing the first few comments I read relate to weather sealing. Can those commenters let me know which lenses are weather proof please?
flabmeister@alien.topBtoPhotography•What are these realtors using to get nice pictures when Ithey are not photographers themselves, and they are not hiring people?English
1·2 years agoI’ve trialled about 50 of these companies and every single one, bar none, were terrible. As a result I can’t outsource my editing work as I find no one has sufficiently high standards.
If you’re in the UK these guys are really good and reasonable prices:

Back in 2013 I was a flight attendant for an international airline. I’d developed a love for travel photography and was getting pretty good.
Wanderlust is a big travel magazine over here in the UK. In the same year I entered their annual Travel Photography Competition.
I was on holiday in Thailand when I discovered I’d won the main portfolio category with a series of images on the New York subway.
That’s when I realised I really might make it as a pro so started making extra effort to make it happen.
Sorry yes I have no doubt you’d get sufficient warning
I have the Synology DS218J with 2 x 4TB WD Red drives in a RAID 1+0 config giving me 4TB of mirrored storage.
I then have an OWC Thunderbay 8 currently with 6 x 8TB Toshiba Enterprise drives again set up as RAID 1+0 giving me 24TB of mirrored storage.
I would say it’s shippers responsibility really unless stated beforehand that they don’t accept the responsibility, in which case you’ve accepted those terms by buying.
Worth getting in touch with them though. Also check with the shipping company chosen, see if they offer compensation.
I’ve sold all kinds including lenses, drones and laptops. Always shipped fully insured for this precise reason.
