I’m using a Nikon Z fc. I’ve got it set on Snapbridge to automatically send 2mp previews to my phone as long. Sometimes I need to load up the app at the start of a shooting session, but most of the time it just works. The jpeg processing on mirrorless Nikons is better than most people’s Lightroom edits if lighting conditions were decent, so those previews are honestly what I use for about 90% of what I post.

I’ll say that the camera to phone connections were absolutely useless in the DSLR days. They might have become more usable towards the later releases, but I never would have been able to do this 5 years ago on my D750.

Go to your local skate park after business hours, be very obvious that you’re taking photos (don’t be a creep), be ready to show your photos and potentially share them. The Nikon app can automatically send 2MP previews to your phone that are usually more than enough for socials, so I usually just send those. I’m assuming the other apps do the same thing.

Private your socials (re: friends and girlfriend pics). Start a new photography brand without your name on it.

Don’t risk a high paying job in a creative field, but they’re also locking you down so you can’t build a personal brand to launch your own career.

Spend the first song shooting video and then switch to stills for the other 2? Shooters who can do both are more likely to get the gig, but most of the time the only video needed is a few short clips they can dub over and post as a Story/Reel.

I’ve shot shows with nothing more than a band member’s message plenty of times. Sometimes it’s in the pit, sometimes in smaller venue, and more than once at a festival. Worst case scenario you pack up and go home, but it’s never happened to me yet.

I’m with you when it comes to work. I wouldn’t think twice about dual wielding a 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 when that’s the right kit for the job. It’s also not that taxing to carry them for 3 songs, take your crowd shots, and chill until the next artist comes on.

In the day to day, though? Fuck that. A single body and your flavour of the month prime is the way to go 9 times out of 10. The kit weighs a lot more when you’re not being paid to carry it.
