Stuff like the XF35mm f2 WR is, though you’ll also need a weather sealed body.
That’s unfortunate.
I don’t recommend trying to pinch minutes. The people who pinch minutes are the ones who double or triple book, but then don’t want to say that their earlier gig is running late, or that something better came up, or the people who realize it’s going to be more work than they wanted to do.
So my advice is to not look at it as just 30 minutes, look at it as a day, because that’s how a lot of professional photographers will book it. Their schedule will almost never look like 8am-8:30 gig A, 8:45-10 gig b, 11-12 gig c. That’s a disaster waiting to happen and I don’t know anyone serious about the industry who works like that. The only possible exception is when they’re hired by a venue, and they’re working all day anyways, and the timeslots are for you the client and not for the photographer.
So instead of saying you just need photos from 8-830, book it as photos for that day starting at 8.
R6 costs about $2000 for ease of math. If you charge $100 per shoot as your equipment fee that is 100x300=30000. So you can afford to buy another 150 cameras with the profit generated.
Did you know that some things rent for like 1% value? You can rent a lens that costs more than your car for an afternoon, often for just a hundred bucks.
This is how many professionals work. If I’m getting paid $500, and I spend $100 renting a fancy lens, and $100 on a location I’m otherwise not allowed to shoot in, I’m still profiting $300 which is a good wage for a day.
Same deal with when I do audio work. I don’t actually own $50,000 of lav mics and wireless kits, but they can be rented.
Many low budget people are so convinced that renting is too expensive, but it’s only too expensive in the long term. Like if something rents for 5% value, and you rent it 250 times year, then it would be more profitable to purchase it. The good thing is that if you’re working enough to rent it 250 times a year, and you’re doing something like banking money from each job, you should be able to consider buying it or financing it.
I must know so that I can try to use them in a situation they’re unsuited for so I can complain about my gear and spend my retirement savings buying more expensive gear.
