Depends on my camera.

Most of what I’m shooting, manual focus is the only option I have. On the occasion I’m shooting AF, about 10% of that time is tap-to-focus override, which to me counts as manual focus.

I still post to IG and FB as they’re the easiest platforms for me to mindlessly manage compared to other sites. At least for now. I have been thinking about getting a Squarespace, but as a hobbyist, it’s not within the budget.

For me, it’s also hard trying to get hired too as a photographer. Like wedding, event, and real estate photography is super easy to find people willing to hire you. Same with product photography. But street and urban are hard to commercialise. Like who wants to hire someone to take photos of random people and locations?

I tried to do up close street photography but 1) I never liked being that up close, and 2) human subjects are boring to me. This eventually led to explore urban photography, which I love more.

Perhaps give urban photography a try. The way I see it, it’s exploring the living legacy of people, where the urban landscape is the subject. Not the people. Shifting to having people becoming a passing element has made me enjoy photography a lot more since I’m no longer concerned about getting in people’s faces and spaces.

Invest in a super telephoto.

No need to talk to anyone.
