Thanks so much. I am going to do a set of test prints on the calibrated monitor. I made a virtual copy of some images and I will do a pre and post calibrated test to see how they look.
If they come out still to dark, I will try that 160 setting as your suggested.

Couple more questions
The Benq EX2780 is a gaming monitor.
I also have a Benq2500q that I bought for photo editing but I never use it. I’m wondering if it would be better to only use the gaming monitor for gaming and the 2500q for editing photos, or do you think that would make a difference. Can I have a calibrated ICC profile that I only use for my photo editing monitor and a default gaming ICC for the gaming monitor?
By, my perception when I calibrate the monitor (again, using a spyder pro) they colors look “worse” to me. Now, I’m guessing this is because I’ve grown accustomed to viewing shit colors where the monitor is actually showing my the true calibrated colors that are actually in my photo files? Am I understanding this correctly?

Maybe it makes sense to do the first round of edits on the uncalibrated profile to make sure it looks good on a screen and then only calibrate when I go to print? I guess Virtual copies make this easy to do
