I’m just an amateur but I have a hard time getting a style that is cohesive with all images. Usually I’ll do the same general edits for all of a same shoot. While different locations and settings usually render different editing techniques. I try to do enhanced true to life with a slight nostalgic film effect but nothing too blown out or moody yet when putting all my photos into collections togehter they just don’t really go well together since they all have different styles, and these are everything from portraits to landscapes to urban photos…

So how did you all go about with choosing your post editing ‘style’ to identify your look of photos?

Some people spend waaaay too much time trying to have a ‘style’ and impose it across all images to make them feel different.

If that works, fine, and if you’re a good pro it likely does work and that’s what you’re paid for. If not, just do what you think looks best. At the end of the day if you’re not a pro then part of the reason could be that your ‘style’ doesn’t sell. So the only way to find the way that does is to keep experimenting with different styles until you hit gold.

At the end of the day 90% of your style is composition, and that extra 10% will be unlikely to be noticed by anyone except other pros.
